Joining Belton, step by step.
Switching IT providers feels risky from the inside: passwords, systems, a relationship to unwind. We have done it more than 350 times, and there is a well-worn path. This page shows you the whole journey, what happens in each phase, what we need from you, and what your team will notice. Mostly, they will notice very little until things start getting better.
Five phases, one decision.
The mapThe conversation
30 to 45 minutesNo charge, no slidesWe start by listening: what is working, what is not, and what your business needs from its IT. A genuine discussion about whether we are the right fit, not a sales pitch. If we are not, we will say so and point you somewhere useful.
Assessment
Typically 1 to 2 weeks elapsedA structured review of your environment: network, devices, cloud, security posture, backup and licensing. We document what we find, including the things your current provider would rather we did not. The report is yours to keep whether or not you proceed.
- Devices, servers, network and cloud services
- Security posture and backup, tested against what would actually happen
- Licensing: what you pay for, what you use
- Access to look (read-only), or whatever documentation exists
- An hour with whoever manages IT today
Proposal & agreement
Price agreed hereA plan and a monthly price, built from the assessment rather than a template. It states exactly what is covered, what falls outside the agreement, and how the transition will run. You will know what your monthly invoice looks like before you sign anything.
- What the monthly price covers, and what sits outside it
- Response expectations you can hold us to
- The transition plan and its key dates
- A decision-maker to walk the proposal with us
- Your current agreement's notice terms, so we can time the switch
Once you sign, we coordinate with your outgoing provider directly, professionally, and without drama. You do not need to manage the handover; that is what you are paying us for.
Transition: the first 90 days
Intensive, on purposeThe first weeks are about taking control safely: gathering access and documentation, deploying our monitoring and security tools, and meeting your team. The rest of the 90 days is the intensive part: fixing the accumulated issues surfaced by the assessment, building documentation that ensures continuity, and getting every user comfortable with how to reach us.
- Weeks 1 to 2: access handover, monitoring and security tooling deployed
- Your team introduced to the helpdesk, the portal and their pod
- Accumulated issues worked through, priority first
- Your environment documented properly, so nothing lives in one person's head
- Security baseline lifted to our standard
- An introduction to your outgoing provider, then we take it from there
- Admin access and any existing documentation
- Five minutes from each staff member to meet the new helpdesk
Business as usual
Partnership modeYou are assigned to a pod: a small, named team that knows your environment and your people, backed by specialist cyber and operations teams. One account manager owns the relationship, and quarterly reviews keep your IT aligned with where the business is going, not where it was.
- The same faces every time: your pod, your account manager
- Continuous monitoring, prompt patching, problems caught early
- Quarterly business reviews and a live roadmap in the client portal
- New staff set up through a simple, repeatable process (see the user setup guide)
Common worries, answered straight.
ExpectationsWhat you can hold us to.
Both ways- A monthly price agreed before you sign, with its coverage in writing
- The provider handover managed by us, professionally
- No surprise changes: your team is told before anything they touch moves
- Your environment documented so nothing depends on any one person
- A named pod and account manager, not a ticket queue
- An introduction to your outgoing provider, and your notice dates
- Admin access and whatever documentation exists
- A little patience through the 90 days while the backlog clears
- Honest feedback, early and often. We would rather hear it
